A field trip in Hakone-Fuji area, Japan
I joined the Goldschmidt field trip after the conference, hiking in the Hakone-Fuji area for three days. These places were simply as beautiful as Hayao Miyazaki’s films. A great escape from those big cities!

Mt. Fuji, the symbol of Japan. Unfortunately, it was a time with restricted access, and we were not allowed to summit.

Inside a lava tube. Lavas in the outer layer cooled faster and formed the shell (ceilings and walls) while lavas inside kept flowing, leaving an empty tube behind.
